Pewin and Xiaolei’s Wedding - Houston, TX

Pewin and Xiaolei had a very elegant and small intimate wedding this summer in Houston. I say “in Houston” because they’re having four weddings!

This lovely couple is finally going to be spending some time together after being apart. One is from Vancouver, BC, the other attending school in Connecticut (both by way of Shanghai, China). So, yes, apparently people do have destination weddings IN Houston! ;)

Regardless, here’s the Houston leg of the tour for this absolutely gorgeous couple!

Arriving at the church…

Rock star wedding shoes:

Such a beautiful bride! Isn’t she absolutely stunning?

(She thought I was silly for standing on a chair, but whatever…) :p

The church was so pretty! Flowers everywhere! (and I love flowers!) :)

Lighting the unity candle…

… and exchanging the rings.

This was Pewin’s traditional Chinese dress that she wore for the reception. It was so detailed and beautiful!

Their reception was held at the Remington restaurant in the fabulous St. Regis.

Toasts!

These two were so sweet! This was literally, their first dance.

As you can see, they needed a little help getting closer… no, closer… even closer you two! ;)

I love these close, emotional shots! And their bright Chinese wedding attire makes it feel even warmer.

And now, for a little faster song, Pewin rocks out with her dad…

Finally, some totally kickin’ ring shots!!!

Thank you Pewin and Xiaolei (and Teddy and Ming too!) for allowing me be a part of your special day!

Ceremony: Lakewood United Methodist Church, Cypress, TX

Reception: St. Regis Hotel, Houston - The Remington Restaurant

Ashely and Phillip’s Wedding - Spring, TX

Catching up on back-blogging (is that a term?), here is a wedding I shot this summer with the uber-talented Christine Tremoulet.

Phillip is active duty Navy, currently stationed in Virgina Beach, VA. One of my best friends since Jr. High is also in Virgina Beach right now with her man in the Navy, so we got to compare notes. :)

I’m feeling rather rebellious today, so instead of going in chronological order, I’m going to start off with one of my favorite images from their wedding.

The little flower girl was ready for her role while the groom anxiously awaits his bride.

I love this look she gives him at the altar!

I love these tender moments!

They had such a beautiful wedding cake! (yummy too!)

After the cake, it was time for more dancing!

Rose petals for the exit…

Some of my favorite things…

Hey there!

I haven’t had a chance to blog in a while, I’ve been running all over the country. But while I’m coming up with a “real” blog post (complete with photos and all), I thought I’d share with you some new wedding things.

I came across the site Dolly Couture today. Dolly is a designer out of LA who custom designs 50’s style wedding gowns for under $400! And they’re adorable!

Fellow photographer Christine Tremoulet is quite a busy gal! She’s redesigned and taken charge of a long running site for all things wedding, Wholly Matrimony. It’s full of fun things and lots of tips and tricks for destination weddings.

Last but not least, I’m now one of the featured vendors on The Knot! Go check out my listing, and if you’re a “Knottie” (and one of my brides), feel free to gab about me on the boards and tell all the other Knotties how totally awesome we are. (”We” as in you - being a rockin’ hot bride, and me - as a kick butt photographer. By saying that, I’m not trying to discount a groom reading my blog, but I don’t imagine there are very many guys perusing The Knot. Correct me if I’m wrong.) :p

Stay tuned! I’ll have some new posts soon!

xoxo

Emily and David’s Wedding - Houston, Texas

Earlier this month we attended Emily and David’s wedding at the Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church near the Rice University campus in Houston.

David is one of Chad’s childhood friends from Kansas and he is a commercial photographer.  We know their special day was well documented because David said there were about 7 or so photogs at their wedding.

Emily walks down the aisle with her father and holds hands with her soon-to-be husband.

Exchanging the rings…

The ceiling of the church was awesome!  And the sweet kiss!

The new Mr. and Mrs. David Schmitz!

This is my favorite from the day - their first dance.  You can tell they are so much in love!

They had a beautiful cake and I love the interaction between the two of them here as they are about to share “the sweetness of life” - their cake.

I like couples that choose alternatives to the traditional DJ.  Emily and David decided upon a Violinist and Cellist for their music.

One of the single guys caught the garter.  I sincerely hope he’s not the next to get married…

And one of the single gals really, really wanted that bouquet

You can see her laughing (probably with a sore rear after the spill), andeveryone else’s expressions are priceless!

And the new couple heads out…

Congrats Emily and David!

Jacque and Joe’s Wedding - Tomball, Texas

I had the opportunity to join Christine and Elaine at a lovely outdoor wedding last month at Events Etc. in Tomball. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I really do love to shoot with other photographers every chance I get. There’s so much to learn about their style, methods, and techniques, and it gives me a break from just shooting with Chad! :p

Here’s a short post with a few of my favorites.

All photos were taken by me for Christine Tremoulet.

Shoes! I love bride’s shoes and the chartreuse and wicker chair was awesome!

The little ring bearer was making faces and goofing off with one of his buddies during the ceremony.

He was so silly and too cute!

kids + wedding = funny expressions

Jaque and Joe 6

The new family. I loved the sky in this one!

I like finding unusual twists to the formal poses. (In this one, I was sitting on the ground.)

Jaque and Joe 7

The ring bearer decided he didn’t want his picture taken anymore. (I think it was time to play?)

Jaque and Joe 8

A toast to the new couple. I love the way she looks at her new husband!

Alex and Nick’s Trash the Dress! Kemah, Texas

The wonderfully talented Stacy Reeves invited me and Brittani Oliver to join her, and newlyweds Alex and Nick while we trashed Alex’s wedding dress!

Now when some brides hear “Trash the Dress” you can see the fear of God in their eyes. Others get really excited about their “extreme bridals” and start planning fun, unique ways they can rock the dress (all after the wedding, of course)! But there’s a saying for it, “It’s about creation, not destruction.” :D

Below are some of the photos from our totally rockin’ shoot! Enjoy!

I love bright, bold colors! The arcade was awesome!

Stacy found this spot for this creative pose! (I love shooting with other photographers; I learn so much each time, regardless how long I’ve been shooting!)

Alex Nick 6

On the boardwalk, this was some of the most yummy, beautiful light I had ever seen! The sun was so warm and the light just wrapped around her face. I LOVE the evening light…

Alex was so brave! Even laying down on the slimy green rocks, all for the sake of art!

Finally, back on to dry land! I’ve learned so much from Stacy, including how to properly expose fabulous night shots!

Thank you, Alex and Nick, for getting down and dirty in Kemah, and thanks, Stacy for inviting me along!
